It is time to catch everyone up. I can't believe it has almost been 5 months since I posted last. It is a novel!
I will start with Wyatt. We have ear tubes (April)!! What a difference it has made. I still wonder why I wanted to wait till he was a year to get them put in. We have had 5 ear infections but we are sleeping when we have them! In March I asked the doctor a lot of questions in regards to Wyatt's lack of eating table foods and gagging and throwing up when he does try to eat them. Our first step was a barium swallow study to make sure nothing structurally was going on (June). We learned that Wyatt swallows a little funny and does not chew at all. He mashes everything to the roof of his mouth and swallows whole. Everything checked out fine and food therapy and a trip to the GI doctor was recommended. In July we were finally able to get in for a food therapy evaluation. The therapist was awesome and in the hour we were there I got more information than I could handle. Way overwhelming! He qualified in about 6 ways for it to be a medical necessity, not something an already worried mom wants to hear. They recommended once a week for a minimum of 6 months. He has been making improvement and wants to try and eat everything. The swallowing part is still tricky. Ah August, hello endoscopy. The GI doctor wanted to get this done to rule out any diseases, bacterial infections and some esophagus.....itis thing. During the procedure they took some biopsies and found a hiatal hernia. The hernia will do away on its own! His biopsy results we back yesterday and he only has acid reflux. YEA! Meds will fix that and hopefully improve his appetite. The end of the month we go back to the GI doctor for our post op visit and see how the meds are working. We are hoping September will bring food and speech therapy appointments. Now all the medical stuff is out of the way you would never know he was dealing with anything. He is still our happy go lucky little man. He is all about trucks, balls, puddles, dirt and mud.
Oh Mia, where to start. We finished up her year in the playroom and started looking forward to being in a big kid class. In June she got to go to dance class. She LOVED it! After every class she would come home and show us everything she learned. She mastered a summersault and Wyatt tries to follow in his own ways. This summer was our first time doing the summer movie passes. It was nice that on Thursday mornings she got some one on one time. Nick got to go to most of the movies with her. I am thinking it was because Daddy would always get an Icee and popcorn. Mia stayed our “steps fish” all summer. Always wanting to go in the pool but never wanting to leave the steps. She did get pushed a few times and once the fear leaves she will be swimming all over the pool. Hopefully next summer with some swim lessons to help. Mia continues to be a little mom, to her dolls, babies and Wyatt. She has also found an attitude! Oh boy does she give us a run for our money some days. Nick and I always tell each other wonder where she gets that from or that is your daughter. September preschool starts and oh boy are we ready for it. Nick and I will parent aide at the school and be in Mia’s class some days. There is a nursery there that Wyatt will get to play in while we are aiding.
We have been camping a lot this summer. Getting out of the heat, making memories, and exploring the outdoors has been so much fun with the kids. This past trip Mia got to reel in her first fish and ran from it as it was flopping around on the line. Wyatt got to touch it and within the same motion wiped his hand off on his pants. The previous trip we found a field of wild flowers and Mia wanted to get out in the middle of it and pick flowers. As Mia was picking flowers Wyatt was picking up cow pies and throwing them like rocks! Yea for soap. We had our first huge monsoon thunderstorm camping. Of course it came in the middle of the night but the kids did great. No crying over the trailer shaking thunder. We also got to go to Bearizona. Something we would love to go to with everyone. A full day trip but well worth it. Wyatt will still point out a window and say bear. I think I covered it all. I will try my best to do a month recap each month! Fingers crossed.

How great to get an update and see so many cute photos! We've been waiting to see how Mia and Wyatt have been doing. So glad the doctors have been able to narrow down Wyatt's issues with food...it must be a great relief. We look forward to seeing more updates as the new preschool year begins! Love and miss you guys!
