Washington D.C. with the Morgans

We were in Washinton D.C for National Police Week to honor Nick's squadmate who was killed in the line of duty. I am still sorting and collecting pictures of our week. Post to come of our week.
Nick's sister and family made the drive from NC to visit us for the day. It was the first time we got to meet two of our nephews. Nick had a ceremony to attend to in the morning and thankfully had some down time after to hangout with everyone.

Trick or Treat

On Halloween we were able to trick or treat with cousins and friends! Mia was Tangled. And Wyatt was the best looking Red Sox player. He got called a little Dustin Pedroia all night.

We got a family picture!

And then she smiles so nicely a picture without Mom and Dad

Mia's pumpkin. She had so much fun carving it this year. She got to use the drill to make all the holes and decided at the end she wanted to make a jack-o-lantern.

Stoneman Lake

We went camping at Stoneman Lake with a few of the teachers at Mia's school and Grammie and Pap. When we got up there on Thursday there was snow on the ground and was sleeting as we drove in and were setting up. Thankfully that was the only cold day. Of course Mia would not put on any pants and rocked her dress, boots and hoodie. The rest of the weekend was beautiful. We went on rides, walks, played at camp and relaxed! The snow had melted where we were but left plenty of mud to ride through and play in by the boys. I am so glad Mia stood on the side and mothered the boys playing in the mud.

Off on an adventure! We were over 7,000ft at some points and there was snow everywhere.

This cabin was amazing. Hand built to perfection.

Off to explore!

Safety first!

Trying to keep up.
Notice everyone dressed warm besides Mia?!

Photo Shoot

Mia got to take her 4 year old pictures with Auntie to help with the start of her new business. Auntie had picked the place and Mia had to pick the outfits. What outfits do you think she picked? Her Tangled dress! Does that not scream I am 4?!? Thankfully with the help of Auntie she did wear jeans and a shirt. Thanks Auntie for capturing the true smiles and sides of Mia.
Wyatt had his 18 month pictures done while we were camping. I had wanted to take his pictures in the middle of a dirt road and figured I would get him playing in the dirt as well. Well my idea turned into a whole new vision when we were showed an abandon cabin. We turned the corner and I looked at Nick and said this is where Wyatt is getting his pictures done. Of course Wyatt wanted nothing to do with sitting still until Pap asked if he wanted to wear his hat. These pictures are my favorite. It shows our happy go lucky little man that is always full of smiles.

First Day

On September 3rd Mia had her first day of preschool with half of her class and her first day with her whole class on the 9th. What a difference a year can make. Last year Mia cried till about Christmas break when I would leave. This year before school even started she told me I could give her a hug and kiss and leave. Where did my little girl go?!
Wyatt has been loving it in the nursery. Charming everyone that is there or passes by. The best part was picking him up on the first day and he saw Mia and came running to give her a hug. He was so excited me knocked Mia over. Maybe he had a little weight behind his hug but either way it was priceless. Wyatt has started speech therapy and did so much better than expected! He will hopefully start food therapy next week. I had to go Momma Bear on Friday to get the things going in the right direction.

It is time to catch everyone up. I can't believe it has almost been 5 months since I posted last. It is a novel!

I will start with Wyatt. We have ear tubes (April)!! What a difference it has made. I still wonder why I wanted to wait till he was a year to get them put in. We have had 5 ear infections but we are sleeping when we have them! In March I asked the doctor a lot of questions in regards to Wyatt's lack of eating table foods and gagging and throwing up when he does try to eat them. Our first step was a barium swallow study to make sure nothing structurally was going on (June). We learned that Wyatt swallows a little funny and does not chew at all. He mashes everything to the roof of his mouth and swallows whole. Everything checked out fine and food therapy and a trip to the GI doctor was recommended. In July we were finally able to get in for a food therapy evaluation. The therapist was awesome and in the hour we were there I got more information than I could handle. Way overwhelming! He qualified in about 6 ways for it to be a medical necessity, not something an already worried mom wants to hear. They recommended once a week for a minimum of 6 months. He has been making improvement and wants to try and eat everything. The swallowing part is still tricky. Ah August, hello endoscopy. The GI doctor wanted to get this done to rule out any diseases, bacterial infections and some esophagus.....itis thing. During the procedure they took some biopsies and found a hiatal hernia. The hernia will do away on its own! His biopsy results we back yesterday and he only has acid reflux. YEA! Meds will fix that and hopefully improve his appetite. The end of the month we go back to the GI doctor for our post op visit and see how the meds are working. We are hoping September will bring food and speech therapy appointments. Now all the medical stuff is out of the way you would never know he was dealing with anything. He is still our happy go lucky little man. He is all about trucks, balls, puddles, dirt and mud.

Oh Mia, where to start. We finished up her year in the playroom and started looking forward to being in a big kid class. In June she got to go to dance class. She LOVED it! After every class she would come home and show us everything she learned. She mastered a summersault and Wyatt tries to follow in his own ways. This summer was our first time doing the summer movie passes. It was nice that on Thursday mornings she got some one on one time. Nick got to go to most of the movies with her. I am thinking it was because Daddy would always get an Icee and popcorn. Mia stayed our “steps fish” all summer. Always wanting to go in the pool but never wanting to leave the steps. She did get pushed a few times and once the fear leaves she will be swimming all over the pool. Hopefully next summer with some swim lessons to help. Mia continues to be a little mom, to her dolls, babies and Wyatt. She has also found an attitude! Oh boy does she give us a run for our money some days. Nick and I always tell each other wonder where she gets that from or that is your daughter. September preschool starts and oh boy are we ready for it. Nick and I will parent aide at the school and be in Mia’s class some days. There is a nursery there that Wyatt will get to play in while we are aiding.

We have been camping a lot this summer. Getting out of the heat, making memories, and exploring the outdoors has been so much fun with the kids. This past trip Mia got to reel in her first fish and ran from it as it was flopping around on the line. Wyatt got to touch it and within the same motion wiped his hand off on his pants. The previous trip we found a field of wild flowers and Mia wanted to get out in the middle of it and pick flowers. As Mia was picking flowers Wyatt was picking up cow pies and throwing them like rocks! Yea for soap. We had our first huge monsoon thunderstorm camping. Of course it came in the middle of the night but the kids did great. No crying over the trailer shaking thunder. We also got to go to Bearizona. Something we would love to go to with everyone. A full day trip but well worth it. Wyatt will still point out a window and say bear. I think I covered it all. I will try my best to do a month recap each month! Fingers crossed.

Birthday Boy!

Our Little Man is ONE! We were able to take Wyatt's one year pictures before his birthday. I went up to a house and knocked on the door to see if they would let us use their John Deere tractor for pictures. I met the nicest old lady and some how convinced her and her son to let us take pictures. We went back the next day and got some of my favorite pictures of Wyatt! Here are some pictures from his party and bithday day. Thanks to everyone that was able to celebrate with us. We could not have asked for a better day and weather.
